Game of the Week

The Game of the Week this week goes to Odbayar Y from WIISER (White) and Garret G from St. Mary’s (Black) for this incredibly entertaining and competitive game that features the coolest move seen so far this season.

We join this game at move 34 with White to move. Can you spot the best move for White in this position?

White to move

Did you spot d7? Do you see where this is going?

d7

Black tries g4+, but this only delays the inevitable.

g4+

White advances the king to f4 to get out of check.

Kf4

Black captures White’s rook on c6, which is the best move available.

Here’s where the fun begins. Can you now see the best follow up for White?

Rxc6

White underpromotes to a knight, landing a fork on Black’s king and rook!

d8=N+

Black has no option but to give up the rook on c6.

Ke7

There’s nothing for Black to do now but watch as White begins to gobble up all of Black’s remaining pieces.

Nc6+

Congrats to both players on an amazing game through and through! Move 22 was another particularly interesting moment that I encourage you to take a look at and analyze. You can check out the full game below.

Rookly Quest High Scores

We hope you and your students have been enjoying Rookly Quest. We now have leaderboards for boss battles!

You can access leaderboards by navigating to the High Scores tab of your admin dashboard. From here you can check the high scores from your team and from students across all of our leagues.

Congratulations to Connor from OFL for holding the current high score for the first Rookly Quest boss battle against Rankles!

Overall student high scores

The Rankles boss battle requires the player to capture as many cheeses as they can within three minutes. Their piece randomly changes after each capture, and rocks spawn on the board rendering certain squares unusable.

You can even see how you stack up against other school admins from Rookly schools across the country! Congrats to Tony for holding the top spot…for now!
